Federal Insurance Protection Strong At Mid-Year
July 14, 2008
National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman JoAnn Johnson today said, “Member deposits in federal and almost all state chartered credit unions are federally insured by the NCUA, through the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF). NCUSIF is backed by the full-faith and credit of the United States Government. Consumers who have federally insured funds in credit unions should rest assured that their deposits are safe up to at least $100,000 per account, with additional coverage of up to $250,000 for certain retirement accounts.
The National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) is in strong condition, with an equity ratio estimated at 1.24 percent for June 30, projected by year end to be 1.28 percent. Staff will present mid-year NCUSIF results in more detail at the July 24th NCUA Board meeting.
While there are isolated instances of credit unions encountering difficulties, on the whole the credit union industry is healthy. The NCUSIF enters the second half of 2008 secure and well-capitalized.”
The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates, charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of more than 87 million accounts in all federal credit unions and the overwhelming majority of state-chartered Credit Unions.

National Bankruptcy stats at a new high, Credit Unions stress saving benefits to youth -
April 17, 2008
Cheyenne, WY – In 2004, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts reported 1.6 million bankruptcies, up 98 percent from 1994. Record number of bankruptcies should come as no surprise, considering that a large number of Americans live from paycheck to paycheck. Now more than ever it is vital to teach young people the importance of saving and financial planning before they add to these statistics.
During the 5th annual National Credit Union Youth Week, April 23-29, 2006, credit unions around the country will take the opportunity to stress the importance of financial education and use the week to enlighten children and parents alike. This year’s youth week theme - "My Money, My Credit Union – Where I Belong" - aims to help children understand the credit union difference, explaining that as members of a not-for-profit cooperative, they earn better rates on saving and loan products, pay lower fees, and receive personalized service.
According to a recent survey, 34 percent of high school seniors said they were "not sure at all" or "not too sure" about their ability to manage their own finances. Sixty-six percent said they were "somewhat sure" or "very sure." All groups failed a test of financial literacy.
The same survey found that the students learned most about managing their money from family at home (58%), personal experience (18%), class at school (20%), friends (2%), and media (2%). Again, all groups failed the financial literacy test.
In conjunction with Youth Week, Warren Federal Credit Union is giving away five mountain bikes to promote “"My Money, My Credit Union – Where I Belong.” The focal point is for teaching the benefits of saving for goals as credit unions invite young people to open new saving accounts and make deposits this week and throughout the year.
For more information about National Credit Union Youth Week, or to enter a youth drawing for a mountain bike, contact Warren Federal Credit Union at 307.432.5400 or 800.368.9328 and press 1 to speak with a Credit Union representative or stop by one of our six convenient locations.

Warren Federal Credit Union gets a new look!
January 1, 2008
Warren Federal Credit Union will have a new look. The new look includes photographs of local members, a new tagline and new features inside each branch.
The new look was a result of research done by another local Cheyenne, Wyoming company; Warehouse Twenty One. Warehouse Twendy One conducted extensive research of the current Warren Federal Credit Union membership and what they felt was most important about their Credit Union. The resounding consensus was that they liked the unique experience within their financial institution. The tagline, “It’s not a bank” is a direct result of the input from membership.
“The rebranding campaign is important to us because we asked our members what Warren FCU means to them,” said Stephanie Teubner, CEO. “We wanted to feature our most valuable asset in all aspects of this process. You will even see members featured in all our new materials and advertisements. Warren FCU is about an experience that is different from all other financial institutions. We are able to show that when you walk through the doors, but now we are able to take that message out to the entire community.”
Credit Unions differ from banks in that they are considered not-for profit, they have a volunteer Board of Directors, each member has ownership in the credit union, and they are governed and insured by different bodies. For more information on the differences and to see Warren Federal Credit Union’s new look visit www.warrenfcu.com.
